Scholarships
The Junior Golf Association of Mobile is again
offering a $4,000 educational scholarship for the most deserving
member of the JGAM. This section contains information on the JGAM
Scholarship Program and the application procedures. Students and
parents should read this section thoroughly before completing the
application.

IMPORTANT
o Students must apply on the JGAM Scholarship
Application form.
o Applications may be obtained from the JGAM at
(334) 473-5550.
o Please direct any questions to Dr. Jerry Hynson,
Scholarship Chairman, at (334) 343-1794.
o The application deadline is June 22, 2002. All
completed applications must be received at the JGAM office at 3201
Dauphin Street - Suite E, Mobile, AL 36606 by 5:00 P.M. No exceptions.
o The application must include a copy of the applicant's
academic transcript.
o The application must include a 250 - 500 word
essay on "The Most Important Lesson Golf Has Taught Me."
o An incomplete application submitted by
the applicant will be returned.
PURPOSE
The purpose of The Junior Golf Association of
Mobile Scholarship Program is to encourage and promote the attainment
of higher education goals for JGAM members. Scholarship applications
will be reviewed by the Scholarship Selection Committee and the
winner will be selected based on academic achievement, an essay
and extracurricular activities (community service).
ELIGIBILITY
Applicants for the Scholarship Program must be
members of The Junior Golf Association of Mobile and must have participated
in past or present Jimmy Green Junior Golf Tour events. However,
the applicants golfing ability will not be a factor in the evaluation
process.
Applicants must be high school juniors or seniors
during the 2000-2002 year. Spring 2002 high school graduates are
eligible.
Applicants must submit a 250 to 500 - word essay
on "The Most Important Lesson Golf Has Taught Me."
The awarding of the scholarship is expressly
contingent upon evidence by the applicant of acceptance as a Bachelor's
Degree candidate in an accredited four-year college or university
or an Associate's Degree in an accredited two-year college.
